WARNING TO QLD & NSW OPERATORS
WARNING: All QLD and NSW operators. It has come to our attention that there are some scams being conducted across these two states and it is best that operators contact NSW AMOA to double check any deals they are unsure about.
The scam currently operating involves the purchase of amusement and possibly vending machines. This greatly concerns the NSW association who has issued this warning:
“It has been brought to our attention that there is a couple of people (‘brothers in arms’) looking to buy amusement and possibly vending runs from operators on a time payment plan.’
“To any operator, selling up and moving on is always an option but especially so if you are struggling and not in a position to ramp up the run with the latest equipment. This offer might seem like a gift from heaven, but it could be a curse from hell.’
“If the deal sounds ‘too good to be true’. Most likely it is!”
As Terry Williams, AMOA Secretary, points out in the release, the culprits “are not fly-by-night scammers; they’re extremely professional and have been around almost forever scamming their way through the industry with robust immunity.”
Regarding this point, it is extremely important for operators looking to make any major deals as outlined above to double check with their state association or directly with AMOA and make sure that everything is above board.
If you have any information about this situation or suspect you are being scammed, please contact Terry Williams at secretary@amoa.com.au or call (02) 9606 6509.
