Taito Announces NESiCAxLIVE 2 For Japan with King Of Fighters XIV Launch Title
Taito has announced that they will be releasing NESiCAxLIVE 2 for Japanese arcades with King of Fighters XIV as a launch title, which will be an interesting addition to the Japanese arcade scene.
The original NESiCAxLIVe was created by Taito a few years ago as a type of Steam-esque platform for downloading games and content for the arcade sector in Japan. The idea behind NESiCAxLIVE was for arcades to be able to get a variety of titles into their location without being restricted by physical space or the usual financial cots involved in purchasing full arcade machines. The system is primarily a Japan based system, although there has been a limited release in America at Round1USA locations.
It’s reported the new system will be more powerful than the previous one, likely using Taito Type X3 or possibly even a hardware more powerful than that. Details about the hardware itself are yet to be confirmed, however it has been announced the system will be launched with SNK’s The King of Fighters XIV.
Various developers, other than SNK Playmore, have been reported to be involved with the project, through the extent of this involvement has not been revealed – including Exum, F K Digital, Gref, Square Enix, and more.
The new platform is expected to launch in Japan’s 2017 Summer and more details are set to emerge at JAEPO 2017.
