A number of exhibitors at the 2016 IAAPA Attractions Expo have ended day one on a high after being named a winner of the IAAPA Brass Ring Awards.
US company Face Place took out first place in the Best New Product for Game and Devices: Arcade, Video Games and Equipment category for its Face Place photo booth.
Via the Apple Industries Twitter account, Face Place tweeted a photo of the award, along with: “Face Place Is the proud recipient of IAAPA's Brass Ring Award for BEST NEW PRODUCT! Come see it ONLY at Booth 1600.”
Face Place design unique photo booths. The company recently created Smile 2.0 technology that allows users to print and share photos directly from the booth to social networks.
The Brass Ring Awards are presented to amusement parks, water parks, zoos, aquariums, museums, family entertainment centres and suppliers from around the world to honour excellence in food and beverage, games and retail, human resources, live entertainment, marketing, new products, and family entertainment centres.
The tradition of the brass ring dates back to the 1800s.
Rings were suspended above carousel riders; low enough for them to grasp, but high enough to pose a challenge. Most rings were made of iron, but a few were made of brass, so grabbing the brass ring was a valuable treat. Skilled riders who grabbed a brass ring often earned prizes, including a free ride on the carousel.
The IAAPA Brass Ring Awards are similarly prestigious, marking achievements of excellence throughout the global attractions industry.
