Samurai Shodown VI was made available for PlayStation 4 this week.
The SNK title, the 10th iteration in the Samurai Shodown series, was released by Sony for PlayStation 4 on November 22.
The Samurai Shodown VI franchise was released for PlayStation 2 in 2005 before the game was featured in arcades, which created its fan base. It was released as the PS2 classic for PlayStation 3 in December 2014, but only through the Japanese PlayStation Network store.
Samurai Shodown VI is the last game to feature a 2D-style of gameplay, considered a traditional trait in the franchise, before the release of Samurai Shodown Sen in 2008, which featured a 3D style of gaming.
The sword-fighting game's unique kind of gameplay was what attracted arcaders to the game.
Samurai Shodown VI features 41 characters with each character possessing different styles of swordplay. The most recognisable character in the franchise is Haohmaru, with the character's ability to make mini-tornados with the swing of a katana.
The PlayStation 4 version of the game will feature four extra unlockable characters that players can unlock only by clearing specific conditions in the game. Samurai Shodown VI also has additional three unlockable spirits such as Devil, Beast, and Ritual in the game.
