Circle of Confusion, a production and management company, produces Fear the Walking Dead, The Talking Dead, Powers, Outcast and Dirk Gently. Its recent films include Spare Parts, American Ultra and Mr. Right, starring Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick.
Circle partner David Engel executive produced the 2015 American biographical film Straight Outta Compton.
Streets of Rage and Altered Beast are the latest titles to undergo a game-to-film-and-TV adaptation. Other Sega titles currently being adapted include Shinobi, Golden Axe, Virtua Fighter, The House of the Dead and Crazy Taxi.
Stories International said that it is in the process of partnering with major studios, producers, and filmmakers to co-develop adaptations of the games as English-language feature films and TV series for worldwide release.
“These are some of the most well-loved Sega games, and we are thrilled to be working with Stories to adapt them into major film and television franchises,” producer and Circle of Confusion partner Lawrence Mattis said.
Neither Streets of Rage or Altered Beast have a release date yet.
A Sonic the Hedgehog movie is on the way in 2018, with Deadpool director Tim Miller executive producing the live-action/CG-animated film.
