Ted Dabney, co-founder of Atari has passed away in his home of Clearlake, Calif. Ted had been fighting esophageal cancer. The 81-year-old was responsible for creating the worlds first mass-produced video game called Computer Space. While this creation was not as successful as hoped, Dabney was able to learn from this to create the business of Atari. Atari's first creation was Pong in 1972. Pong, the digital version of Ping Pong was a world-wide success and was very quickly integrated into bars, arcades and pizza parlors. Not long after the businesses success, Mr Dabney sold his share of Atari for $250,000 and moved to the country to run a grocery store with his wife.
Atari's other co-founder, Nolan Bushnell went to Twitter to express his grief: 'Ted was my partner, co-founder, fellow dreamer and friend. I'll always cherish the time we spent together. RIP.'
