Virtra Systems Awarded Patent for Universe Control Board
Virtra Systems has been awarded patent number 6,374,208 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the company's Universe Control BoardT. Bob Ferris, VirTra Systems' president and inventor of the Universe Control BoardT, commented, "This patent is the culmination of six years of work and provides protection for our cost-effective method of using PCs for kiosk and other platform applications. This patent protects the proprietary manner in which the control board permits the use of almost any PC software without
requiring software modifications or conversions.
The Universal Control BoardT is a computer peripheral used for two primary purposes:
1) conversion of off-the-shelf PC games and applications into a coin-op-ready, user-friendly program, without requiring software modifications to either the PC application or the operating system.
2)expansion of a PC's ability to simultaneously control many different types of remote peripheral devices.
"The backbone of our VR Zone operation is the UCBT," commented Rob White, VirTra Systems' vice-president of operations. "Our ability to quickly change games and peripherals such as joysticks, VR headsets, and video monitors, without costly hardware conversion, provides a powerful competitive advantage while allowing us to efficiently respond to
customers' needs."
