Xbox to go Live on November 15th
Microsoft has announced that Xbox Live it's online game service system will launch on November 15th. In order to hook up to the service the user will need to already have a existing broadband service running. Microsoft ruled out the idea of using a dial connection with the system because they felt that the most powerful gaming console shouldn't be constrained by the limits of dial up connections.
Xbox Live Starter Kit have been scheduled to retail at $49.95. This package will include a one year subscription to the service(users will still need to play for their broadband service charges), Xbox Communicator headset(pictured left) and the starter disc. This disc enables the user to register to the network and will also include a minigame to play. When the user registers he/she will have created a user id or Gamertag, this allows the user to have stats & gaming profile to be stored.
Xbox live will launch with 7 titles including 1st person shooters like Unreal Championship sport games like NFL fever 2003. Xbox will then launched several more titles before the end of the year including Phantasy Star Online which was a very success online game for the Dreamcast.
