Namco Continues Expansion with Barcelona Opening
Namco has underlined its commitment to the European market with the opening of a new Namco Station multi-purpose entertainment facility in Barcelona. Situated in the prestigious Diagonal Mar development in the northern sea-facing district of Barcelona, the Namco Station is within the mall complex adjacent to an eighteen screen cinema and Barcelona's largest convention centre. A model of the Diagonal Mar complex is pictured left.

Namco's 30,000 square foot (2,800 sq.m.) unit includes a bar, restaurant, bowling, pool and a games section, as well as a large area dedicated to party and corporate entertainment. Namco already successfully operates a unit in Madrid and has two further Namco Stations scheduled to open in Spain by spring 2003.

The expansion in Spain follows in the footsteps of a significant ongoing investment programme in the United Kingdom where Namco operates bowling centres, pool/music bars, nightclubs and arcades. Flagship developments include the Namco Stations at County Hall (London), The Trafford Centre (Manchester), Meadowhall (Sheffield) and Tamworth, Staffordshire.

Namco Europe's managing director, Mike Nevin stated: "Such a substantial and on-going programme of investment has only been made possible with the support and vision shown by Namco Japan. The group's strong presence in the European leisure market is complemented by the activities of Brent Electronic and Brent Sales, which provide full service distributor arrangements for many of the world's leading manufacturers, backed by the best after-sales service in the industry."
