Golden Tee World Championship - $57,000 in Prizes
At Friday's Front Row in Orlando, Florida on November 18-19, 32 players competed in the first-ever Golden Tee World Championship. Golden Tee, manufactured by Incredible Technologies. The event was a success, attracting reporters from the Associated Press, The Golf Channel, and Fox News.
On Monday, November 18, the 16-man Team USA competed against the World Team, comprised of 2 players from New Zealand, 2 from Australia, 4 from the UK and 8 from Canada, in a Ryder Cup-like format. Team USA defeated the World Team by a score of 35-13.
Tuesday, November 19, saw the single elimination competition to crown a Golden Tee World Champion. Ryan Fehrens of Oakville, Ontario was victorious in the World Team bracket while Graig Kinzler of Schaumburg, IL, defeated his opponents in the Team USA bracket. The two squared off in a best of three finale for $15,000. Kinzler defeated Fehrens 2 games to none to be named Golden Tee World Champion. Fehrens didn't go home empty handed though; he returned to Canada with $5,000. Tom Kostos of Pasadena, CA, won $3,000 for third place while Dave Garnett walked away with $2,000 for his fourth-place finish.
