Time Crisis 3 will be launched to the European coin-op industry this month with the Namco game making an appearance at Nuremberg's IMA and London's ATEI exhibitions, the latter providing the stage for the worldwide unveiling of the deluxe model.
Namco Europe's Managing Director, Mike Nevin explained, "Time Crisis is a gaming phenomenon. Despite the fact that TC2 was launched in 1998, it is invariably top of the income charts. The test figures show that the TC3 sequel is out-earning it by a factor of two and, in some cases three to one. Everyone actively involved in video will want a new Time Crisis 3 and, as a result, the level of orders will be an accurate size of the pan-European market."
Retaining the same successful game concept and system as its forbears, with one or two players fighting as a team using the familiar gun controller and ‘Hit and Hide' pedal system, Time Crisis 3 has three stages of gameplay with a total duration twice as long as the previous incarnations. "Weapon Select System" is a new feature of the game which enables players to pick up, use and switch between different weapons and items, accessed by pulling the gun trigger whilst hiding from the enemy (foot pedal depressed).
Both standard and deluxe versions of Time Crisis 3 feature Namco's System 246 board, which delivers much-improved graphics, compared with the earlier models, whilst stunning cabinet and top box design add further player appeal.
The story this time features the Zagorias Federation invading the small country of Lukano which faces the Mediterranean Sea. Unfortunately for Lukano, the Zagorias army has placed tactical missiles in the Astigos Island. The range of these missles covers neighbouring islands as well, so VSSE, anxious about the confusion of the world, decided to send two agents Alan and Wesley.
