Elo TouchSystems Announces New 15" LCD Screen

Elo TouchSystems has announced a new 15" Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) touchmonitor that includes a threestripe, ergonomically placed magnetic stripe reader (MSR). The MSR is incorporated into the monitor housing and designed to flow with the elegant styling of the monitor. The new monitor, is an enhanced version of Elo's popular Entuitive 1525L 15" LCD touchmonitor. The monitor is available with a Universal Serial Bus (USB) or serial connection for use with Elo's AccuTouch fivewire resistive or IntelliTouch and SecureTouch surface wave touch technologies. The new touchmonitor with MSR is targeted toward applications that require the use of credit/debit cards, loyalty cards, and other card transactions.

The MSR conforms to Microsoft's Human Interface Class specification version 1.1 for the USB interface and supports OLE for PointofSale (OPOS) for the serial interface. To ensure an elegant look, Elo has also further integrated the MSR by colour matching it to the 1525L touchmonitor's own housing in beige or gray.

Most MSRs access just two stripes on the user's card. Elo has extended its MSR technology to read the third data stripe, normally reserved for applications such as customer loyalty programs. "We see a wide variety of applications for our new 1525L 15" LCD touchmonitor with MSR," says Sigona. "While we know that it will be most popular in the retail/pointofsale marketplace, we also see applications in medical environments—at nursing stations or in pharmacies, for example—where a credit card or patient ID is required. Other applications include customer loyalty and identification card programs."
