Stern Holds a Pinball Seminar
Gary Stern and Pat Lawlor of Stern Pinball recently presented "The Science of pinball; The Making of a Pinball Machine," to an excited crowd at Chicago's famous Museum of Science and Industry. Using a slide show presentation, Pat explained to the audience how a pinball machine is taken from an idea to a white wood sample to the final product, while Gary gave a virtual tour of the Stern pinball factory. They had a MONOPOLY® and a SIMPSONS PINBALL PARTY® pinball machine on hand for demonstration and for attendees to play after the presentation.
Two hundred people attended, comprised of families and individual members of the museum. The talk was a "sell out," which according to museum staff is not a normal thing for the venue. The presentation was such a success that the museum has asked Gary and Pat to come back again.
Pat Lawlor says, "Both Gary Stern and myself were quite honored to be invited to talk about pinball in one of the worlds premier civic institutions. The audience was amazed at the history, science, and craft involved with the design and manufacture of pinball machines."
