Five years ago, crime lords controlled the streets of Virtua City. They were repelled by a brand new type of cop…… a Virtua Cop. Since then the crime lords have been busy plotting a new attack and once again Virtua City is calling on the Virtua Cops for help. When it's over, the crime lords will be wishing they'd never crawled out of their holes.

Commenting on the game Sega Amusements Europe Ltd, Sales Director stated "We are exceptionally pleased with the innovative work that our R&D departments have undertaken in the bringing together of what we believe is the best shooting game of all time. Having already carried out extensive income tests on this game we are confident that it will shoot any of the oppositions gun games dead in the water. I think that other manufacturers will need to put their bullet proof vests on and dive for cover, because Sega are coming out all guns blazing with Virtua Cop 3 Initially we are launching the game in a Deluxe cabinet for delivery at the end of May. We will follow this with a new upright cabinet based on our Universal Naomi cabinet in early June".
