Recently Sega has called off talks with pinball and pachinko machine maker Sammy Corp., concluding that the union would not yield the anticipated benefits. At the same time, Namco has withdrawn its proposal to merge operations with Sega, citing the lack of an immediate response to its offer. Sega had said it was studying the proposal. "If Sega comes up with a new proposal in the future, we are ready to consider it," Namco said on its Web site.
