E3 Hoards Amusement!
The largest gathering of consumer entertainment, during E3, also saw a smattering for amusement announcements and products on display - contrary some media coverage. TSR managed to gather information on Nintendo's proposed entry into full amusement development, confirmation on the F-Zero AX name change and release schedule. While the first appearance of the arcade industry's most anticipated 2D fighter in recent years, and the future of SNK releases were made while the rest of the amusement sector slept.
Private Preview - Japan
While all eyes were turned on the console orgy in Los Angeles, SEGA held a pivotal distributor and operator event to show future releases. The AM Private Show - Spring included a strong commitment to amusement, but not an amusement we all may be familiar with.
TSR - charts the appearance of the latest version of the Championship Football title, the appearance of word of a Baseball MCRD game, and the arrival of two RPG arcade titles to appease hungry operators and keep Konami and Monsters Gate at bay.
Private Preview - Europe
While the sore heads and tired feet returned from E3 - UK SEGA satellite held their major distributor presentation. Europe's first chance to play the near completed TriForce F-Zero AX, with some questions regarding the application of the GameCube swap over. SEGA also showed a interest in support the blossoming European Video market with a number of 3rd party upright kit releases that could herald a new period of focused releases for the UK.
Taking Control - VR Operation
The announcement of the GlobalVR / VirTra Systems agreement to acquire the VR Zone operation shows the larger movement of the operation of the remaining Virtual Reality attractions by their very manufacturers. The TSR has kept a keen eye on the development of this Boom to Bust entertainment technology and drawn some surprising comparisons.
The appearance of the 3001 AD - Beta Zone, to compete against the VR Zone, will also have to battle against inroads made by Ham On Rye and the creation of a new suite of VR operators building on Multiple Audience Entertainment (MAE) systems.
Pinball - Will Be Back!
TSR has received information that STERN pinball are in the final stages of releasing the biggest movie license pinball table in the last few years. Sources confirm that Terminator 3 will be immortalised in a pinball table that will hope to relive the success of the previous T2 title. Incorporating popular features from previous tables, the game
could mark a re-birth in the popularity of this sector.
New Golf Technology Causes Jitter!
Rumours of a new Golden Tee Fore! hardware upgrade cause jitters only to be put in their place by the launch of GT-2004. The inclusion of new features and a dedicated upgrade path hopes to build on the success story, and increase the 25,000 connected systems currently active. Hints also emerging from E3 speak of a new version of the competitive golf game from amusement industry rival GlobalVR.
