New Polish Gaming Act to be Enforced Mid June
On the 3rd of May Polish President Mr Kwasniewski signed the new polish Gaming Act with amendments to the existing Gaming Act. The Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland no. 84, pos. 774 with new Gaming Act was publicated on 15th of May 2003. The act will come into force 30 days from this moment. So it will be enforced from the 14th of June 2003. This new act permits legal operations of AwP machines, videoloteries and telebingo games in Poland. The tax level from each AWP machine by month is EUR 50 for the current year, EUR 75 in 2004, EUR 100 in 2005 and EUR 125 in 2006 year. The prize will be a maximum of EUR 15. The price of play would be 7 euro cents. AWP play will be permitted only for persons that are 18 years of age and above. The obligatory exams that are required to obtain professional certificates for those working in the gambling sector - directors, managers, inspectors, table cashiers and croupiers, will also be required for AwP owners and staff. All these people must know the Polish language. Activities on AwP will be possible only with one of following: joint stock company or limited liability company with site on polish territory.

Companies who want to operate AwPs must have minimal EUR 200.000 capital. AwPs must be operated at least 100 m from schools and churches. The maximum number of AwP machines in one location is 3. EUR 1,000 is cost for permission for each location (up to three locations) - for 6 years. Permission cost increases for more locations.
