SCM's Bill Validators Ready For New $20 Bill
Standard Change-Makers, Inc. (SCM), a leading manufacturer of currency change machines, is pleased to announce their System 200, 500, 500E and 600 series Bill Validators (essentially every SC Series unit manufactured since 1988), can be easily modified to accept the soon to be introduced $20 bill with just a simple software upgrade. The U.S. Department of Treasury currently expects to start circulating the redesigned $20 bills in October 2003. For the Standard Change-Makers SC machines, the currency upgrade will require only a memory chip replacement in the circuit board, and some simple programming steps.
In keeping with SCM's long-standing policy to minimize the inconvenience to our customers for such upgrades, they are continuing to offer a free upgrade to all owners that have purchased new machines from September 2002 through August 2003. For all owners with units purchased before September 2002, the cost of the upgrade software is $30.00.
"We were the leaders in the industry when the currency changes of 1998 hit the market," reports Kris Kious, National Service Manager, "Standard customers didn't have to endure the horror stories of having to replace entire bill acceptors nor deal with incompatibility issues. We gained a lot of loyalty because we offered a cost-effective solution. This update should be pretty painless as well." The new Software upgrade packages will be available for shipment in August 2003.
