European Operators Organisation Formed
Finland, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Switzerland, UK and Austria have come together to form a new casino Operators Organisation for Europe as a division of the EGO organisation. In Amsterdam on June 25 the inaugural meeting took place leading to the creation of an interim steering committee comprising of Interim Chairman Jan Rodrigo (pictured - Grupo Amorim Portugal), Interim Vice Chairman Jaime Vaca de Arrazola (Grupo Comar Spain), Lars Porko (PAF Finland), Ian Gosling (Hyatt Regency Greece) and Tim Cullimore (Casino Crans Montana Switzerland).
The role of the committee is to formulate byelaws, membership criteria, codes of conduct and an outline of future aims for the next full meeting in October. "We all agreed the need for a Pan European Operator Organisation open to all irrespective of size. The initial issues identified during the meeting show a clear consensus and the aim of the organisation will be to address these on behalf of the industry as a whole, and for the benefit of all," Jan Rodrigo said.
On the list for the future were the need to implement an industry code of conduct plus look at the issues surrounding money laundering, responsible gaming practice, common testing throughout Europe and the need to consult with the manufacturers on common areas of operator need.
"We have a lot to go away and think about before October, but what is clear is that our needs are common and vital for the industry in an increasingly integrated Europe," Jaime Banos said.
Operators interested in further information about the new organisation should contact Keith Fagan at ego@ego.nl or call +44 1772 682865.
