During the next five months, players across the globe will be vying for spots on their national teams and the chance to become the next Golden Tee world champion. Scheduled for November 16-18, the championship will again be held at Friday's Front Row Sportsbar and Grill in sunny Orlando, Florida. "We schedule this exciting competition in conjunction with the IAPPA trade show," said Bob Fay, Incredible Technologies' Vice President of International Sales. "It allows for our international partners to schedule two major events with one trip." Countries again sending players for the International Team are Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and The United Kingdom. New to the tournament this year is South Africa. "We've got nearly 100 tournament games already online in South Africa," Mr Fay said. "The players there are very excited for the chance to compete against the best players in the world. It should be a great championship!"
Qualifying for Team USA is taking a new twist this year. "For the first time we're using online GTGA League play to qualify players," said Gary Colabuono, IT's Director of Marketing. "For 3 months starting July 1, players will be competing for a spot in the live Team USA qualifier. We've opened the team to all Golden Tee players regardless of their tournament division, and expect this new qualifying format to increase League play across the country," he said. Plans to promote the tournament include special advertising screens on the game, emails to over 50,000 registered players, and a special website devoted exclusively to the event. "If you play Golden Tee – you will know about the World Championship," said Colabuono.
Last year's World Championship action was covered by The Golf Channel, ABC, CBS, NBC, and the Associated Press. Team USA defeated the International Team 35 – 13 in the team competition to win the Golden Tee World Championship Cup, and Graig Kinzler, from Schaumburg, IL, went undefeated and won the World Championship title with a win over Ryan Fehrens of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
