Elo Introduces New Touchmonitor with Magnetic Stripe ReaderThis article comes from Highwaygames.com ![]() "At Elo, we pride ourselves on quality and reliability," said Mike Sigona, Elo's European marketing manager. "Unlike the card swipe on most monitors that feature them, Elo's MSR does not look like a tackedon afterthought, but blends seamlessly with the colour and lines of the host 1725L touchmonitor." Elo has positioned the MSR unit ergonomically on the top right corner of its 1725L LCD touchmonitor so that the user can swipe the card flat with a natural action. "Cable management is one of the many assets of an Elo touchmonitor. We used our skills to ensure that the MSR connection cables are completely hidden from view and do not distract from the smooth lines of the monitor itself," Mr Sigona said. He said this is accomplished through the use of a unique USB hub inside the monitor that allows a single USB connection and cable to carry both the touch interface signal and the MSR data. The serial version has two cables and external connectors to carry both touch and MSR data. The MSR conforms to Microsoft's Human Interface Class specification version 1.1 for the USB interface and supports OLE for Point of Sale (OPOS) for the serial interface. Most MSRs access just two stripes on the user's card, however Elo has extended its MSR technology to read the third data stripe, normally reserved for applications such as customer loyalty programmes. "We see a wide variety of applications for our new 1725L 17in LCD touchmonitor with MSR," said Mr Sigona. "While we know that it will be most popular in the retail and hospitality markets, we also see applications in medical, gaming and amusement markets." https://www.highwaygames.comhttps://www.highwaygames.com/arcade-news/elo-introduces-new-touchmonitor-with-magnetic-stripe-reader-1398/ Copyright © 1999 - 2025, Highwaygames.com All Rights |
