Enterprise Amusements in Glasgow operated by the Booth family is the latest location to take on Sega's Derby Owners Club. The city centre site is mainly a gaming arcade with some video and pool, and is a break from the types of previous locations that Sega has sold into. Sega commented, "Phillip Booth is an excellent operator and when he approached us about the Derby Owners Club we were delighted. It is not the typical location for this product based on previous sales and Sega had been looking for alternative venue types where the operator has the courage and commitment to go for it. Glasgow has done this for us."It is a frequent initial comment that the game does not pay out money. The true answer is that once players get into the game they go past the need to win money. This site where 99% of customers visit to win money is proof that the Derby Owners Club does work whilst being a non-payout concept. The eight-player unit in Glasgow has seen players literally having to be thrown off the machine at closing time. The site owners are already getting in the spirit of operating a machine out of the ordinary by running a local tournament and getting staff kitted out in jodhpurs and racing silks! There has been a great deal of interest already on the back of this new installation from other operators which is good news for Sega and the future of this multi player format which will feature increasingly in the future.
