A 55 year-old Connecticut man plunged to his death when he fell from the Superman Ride of Steel roller coaster at Six Flags, New England on Saturday. According to witness, Anthony Arroyo, the man identified as Stanley J. Morbarsky came out of the ride as it hit a curve. Park paramedics took Mr Morbarsky to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The ride was closed immediately and the incident is currently under investigation by park staff, police and the state.

Park officials said the roller coaster was inspected Saturday morning and certified for operation prior to the park's season opening on April 17. The Superman Ride of Steel also had a brush with disaster in 2001 when one car rear-ended another, causing 22 people to sustain minor injuries. At its peak the mile-long ride manufactured by Intamin is 20 stories high, and reaches speeds of up to 80mph.
