Konami's Winning Eleven Arcade Championship 2014 Realeased and GUNDOG Testing

Konami has had a couple of exciting bits of news come out recently to do with their arcade game sector.

Firstly, the company announced last week the release of the 2014 edition of Winning Eleven Arcade Championship. The famous football game has undertaken a reinvention for the 2014 edition, and promises the bigger-and-better type of experience for players. With an all new game engine, better graphics, refined movement and action, better applied physics integration into the player and ball control, as well as online and team features, fans of the literal and virtual football will get a big kick out of the Wining Eleven Arcade Championship 2014 arcade machine.

Features include:

  • New Advanced Game Engine which made huge improvements to the graphics, has helped to create more realistic body collisions, and has refined player body movements and ball touch as well. This encourages a much more sensitive interaction and a more immersive experience for players.

  • "Trade Transfers" Team Management is a mode of transfer between teams, which has been added to the traditional 'negotiations' transfer mode.

  • Online League build up your team to perfection, then challenge other teams online. Battle it out on the football field for the title.

  • AFC Champions League license is now included in the game and features more than 250 football teams for players to choose from.

  • e-Amusement PASS allows players to save current data, as well as transfer and utilize data from previous editions like Wining Eleven Arcade Championship 2012.

Konami's second news moment, is the discovery of a new game that has recently been on location test in Japan - GUNDOG. It is a shooting style game that uses a similar concept to Konami's Silent Scope games.

The cabinet features a transparent LCD touchscreen placed over a normal LCD screen, a molded gun control shaped as a sniper rifle with recoil for immersive play, surround sound audio system and 4D effects such as wind effects.

The objective of the game is for the player to find and eliminate the enemies. A cursor is displayed on screen and changes color depending on the distance between the player and the enemy.

The score is based on where the player hits the targeted enemy, and is as follows in descending order: a head shot is a S rank (worth the most), body shots are an A rank, and limb shots (arms or legs) are a B rank (worth the least). Players lose the game when they run out of ammo or are killed by the enemy.

The highlight of this game that seems to be garnering the most attention is the screen - this type of screen is a relatively new concept and is best known for it's use in the video redemption game Black Out. Hopefully, we'll hear more about this as the game develops.
