Kurtz opened Smashing Barells Retrocade, a name that pays homage to Donkey Kong, on October 28. As Crook reports: Adam Kurtz's love of old arcade games began when he would sneak out of his house as a kid to go play Tron at Scottie's Den. “I pumped so many quarters into Tron,” Kurtz said. Kurtz, 40, bought his first arcade machine when he was 18. On Oct. 28, he opened Smashing Barrels Retrocade in Colony Square Mall. The arcade has about 25 retro gaming machines and the miniature basketball game Pop-A-Shot. Unlike most arcades, Smashing Barrels Retrocade isn't geared toward winning tickets or prizes.
