SNK/Eolith Announces The King of Fighters 2001

Recently it was announced that the latest installment of the very popular 2D team battle game. The game is slated for release in Japanese arcade in November, and is a joint production by SNK and Eolith. This year version features 4 on 4 team fighting, with the striker system once again being a key element in the game.
Players have the option of no strikers on the team or up to 3 strikers at one time, meaning 1 fighter on the screen and all other members of the team as tactical support. The mechanics for calling in strikers have also been altered, so players can call strikers only under certain circumstances such as opponent on the ground, 1 power stock available.
This year's tournament mainly revolves around the hero team lead by "K" and the evil organisation "Nest". This year's tournament sees the introduction of new fighters and moves. Click here to see the game's profile and screen shots.
